How We Approach the Science

UltraVitas writes about vitamin C because it is genuinely interesting. That only works if we are honest about what is known, what is still being studied, and what is simply our point of view.

This page explains how Ultra-Dose Lab content is researched, sourced, written, and updated. It is written for readers, not lawyers.

What “Ultra-Dose” Means Here

Ultra-dose is UltraVitas terminology for high-potency vitamin C supplementation. It is not an established medical or scientific dosage classification.

We use the term consistently across the site so readers always know they are reading a brand term rather than a clinical category. Current UltraVitas formulas provide 1,000 mg and 3,000 mg of vitamin C per stick pack.

The UltraVitas Evidence Hierarchy

Not every statement about vitamin C carries the same weight. Every Lab story is written with these four levels in mind, and the wording changes depending on which level a claim belongs to.

Established

Used for
Well-established nutritional physiology, authoritative reference values, replicated human evidence, and standard biochemical functions.
Sources
NIH, the National Academies, FDA where regulatory context is relevant, peer-reviewed human research, and major academic institutions.
How we write it
Stated plainly, with the reference named or linked.

Emerging

Used for
Early human studies, pilot studies, microbiome research, and mechanistic findings that do not yet establish clinical benefit.
Sources
Peer-reviewed primary research, clearly identified as early or limited.
How we write it
Always qualified with wording such as "emerging," "early research," or "still being studied."

Historical / personal experience

Used for
Documented historical vitamin C use, self-experimentation, personal observations, and high-dose user stories.
Sources
Reputable academic and institutional historical sources.
How we write it
Framed as history or personal experience — never as evidence of a health outcome.

UltraVitas point of view

Used for
Formulation philosophy and how UltraVitas interprets the landscape.
Sources
Clearly labeled as our perspective, separate from scientific consensus.
How we write it
Written in the first person as "UltraVitas believes" or similar.

Personal experience can be interesting and historically important, but it is not the same as controlled clinical evidence. UltraVitas does not present personal experience, historical use, or self-experimentation as clinical proof.

UltraVitas believes minimum nutritional adequacy and high-potency supplementation are different ideas. That is our formulation philosophy, not a claim that one dose is appropriate for every person.

How We Source

What we prioritize

  1. Authoritative government and academic references
  2. Peer-reviewed human research
  3. Primary research wherever it is available
  4. Reputable academic historical sources for historical claims

What we don’t use as evidence

  • Anonymous testimonials presented as scientific proof
  • Influencer content used as evidence
  • Competitor marketing used as scientific support
  • Unsourced social-media claims
  • Disease-treatment claims for dietary supplements

Sources are listed at the end of each Lab story with the institution or journal, the document title, author and year where relevant, and a PMID where one exists. Links open in a new tab and are editorial citations, not sponsored placements.

Science Changes. Pages Should Too.

Ultra-Dose Lab articles may be updated as better evidence becomes available. When a material scientific interpretation changes, UltraVitas updates the article rather than preserving outdated wording simply because it was previously published.

Each Lab story shows a publication date, and an updated date when the content has genuinely changed. Content is researched and written by the UltraVitas team. We do not list individual authors, medical reviewers, or credentials we do not have, and nothing on this site is medical advice or a substitute for a conversation with a healthcare professional.
